No Guilt Eating!! (With new recipe)

Sometimes changing your diet to eating from the earth (talked about this in the last post) can leave you feeling guilty when you make choices that are not in alignment with your new healthy eating choices. The biggest way to help free yourself from this self-sabotage, making choices not in alignment, guilt, feeling bad about yourself, then eating the food that started it all again, is to incorporate forgiveness work.

I teach self-forgiveness to all of the women in the 90 Days to Remembering Your Magical Self Group, because it releases years of guilt in a matter of moments. Guilt and shame are generational themes that have been passed down through many families. This does not mean that it is ok. It does not mean that we should accept it. There are a lot of things that get passed down through generations that need to be healed.

I had some guilt about the food choices I had been making the past couple of months, and I had to do the inner work to help heal them. This is a major focus of the Bringing the Wild Within Planner is helping with doing daily deep diving and inner work to heal faster.

So after watching a really well-done documentary called The Magic Pill (available right now on Netflix) my husband and I went through our cupboards and cleared out all the grains, beans, and processed foods that were lurking in there. It actually felt scary. Like I was giving up something, that I was losing out because I couldn’t have them anymore, but it had to be done. Into the trash they went, I gave some dry foods to friends, and we went to eat the remaining veggies and whole earth foods that we had in the fridge for the last few days.

One of the big goals that we have while traveling full time is to visit local farms and farmers markets to get our food. We had been saying we would do this when we sell the house, but we just kept getting farther away from the kind of diet we truly wanted making this excuse. So we made the plunge. We will be going to weekly farmers markets, buying fresh, local and way more sustainably which is a big deal to me. Sadly, you couldn’t tell from what had been in my cupboards the last few months! But I forgave myself, I moved on, AND I am ready to soar into eating whole earth foods.

I promised a recipe and this has been one that Skyann and I have been loving lately!! We eat the entire bowl in a sitting and there is NO guilt in that.

Broccoli Salad

  • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup dried raisins
  • 1 apple, unpeeled and diced
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion

Dressing

  • 1 cup mayonnaise (I use olive oil mayo as it is a healthier fat)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Mix together and tada!! This is such an easy picnic or on the go salad as well.
