Growing a Goddess Temple

The dream is to create a truly matrifocal environment where women can come to heal, grow, thrive, receive, and truly remember our innate ability to live in reciprocity with nature, other women, and the world at large.

I currently reside on 22 acres in Southeast Missouri, an hour away from any city, and a couple hours away from St. Louis, MO and about 3 hours from Springfield, MO. Living in a remote area away from congestion, traffic, contaminants, and recently labeled the ufo capital of Missouri. As well as blessing us with a view of the milky way, on clear nights. These sloped hills offer privacy, safety and serenity. We back up to 1600 acres of Conservation Land as well.

I share all this to give you an idea that the land is here. For the past 15 years I had wanted to start retreats. We sold our house in California, traveled the country trying to find community, and bought this property. We have spent the past 4 years sowing wild plants, building an earth bag home, and dreaming. I have come to realize that traditional retreats are a patriarchal symbol. Even within women’s gatherings. The leader makes all the preparations, decides what everyone will be doing, and organizes everything. There is a leader and participants. There is a hierarchy. Someone is giving, the other is receiving. This puts us right into the patriarchy rather than being matrifocal.

Since we don’t have a lot of examples of what this looks like in the United States, I feel it is time to create it, experientially. I know some of this will be virtually, as their are so many amazing goddess’ all over this beautiful country, and world! So this will be a part of it, as well as gathering physically.

I want to physically create this goddess temple. With the hands of other goddess’s alongside me. I want to feel the clay in my hands, lift the bags of earth alongside my sisters. I want to create magic, joy and healing through this building. I want to plant gardens of healing herbs, create baskets, containers, and a temple that is worthy of our magic!
